Raymond Ouellet, Artist
Raymond with Spiral Column and Positive Negative Space
After finishing a BA in Art History in the US, Raymond studied painting and sculpture in his native Canada at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. He then returned to the US, setting up a studio and working in a commercial gallery. Two years later he resettled in Edmonton, Alberta (his place of birth), and joined the Edmonton Art Gallery as curator. After which, he managed the Visual Arts Department at the Banff Centre, School of Fine Arts, and a move to France followed.
During the late 1990's, Raymond was able to pursue more actively his passion for art-making. He began with the design and assembly of tables. Intrigued by the technical challenges inherent in chairs, Raymond is currently designing and building chairs, working on commissions and making sculptures.
The works displayed in this exhibition date from 2017 and were produced in his studio south of Paris.
