After finishing a BA in Art History in the US, Raymond studied painting and sculpture in his native Canada at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. He then returned to the US, setting up a studio and working in a commercial gallery. Two years later he resettled in Edmonton, Alberta (his place of birth), and joined the Edmonton Art Gallery as a curator. Later he managed the Visual Arts Department at the Banff Centre, School of Fine Arts, and his move to France followed.

During the late 1990's, Raymond was able to pursue more actively his passion for art-making. Intrigued by space, shapes and the technical challenges inherent in working with wood, Raymond began with the design and assembly of dining tables, followed by designing and building chairs, and making sculptures (many interactive). Later, he added stools (tabourets), pursuing the format for making an object with a practical purpose into art that can be appreciated aesthetically, and Live Edge, the process of exposing the beauty of what nature has to offer.     

The works displayed are from 2017 to the present and were produced in his studio south of Paris.
